
ACC LAY PREACHERS
ACC has developed an Accredited Lay Preachers training with Kingsley College. If you are interested in becoming a Confessing Lay Preacher scroll down for more information.

Candidates for the ACC ministry of Lay Preacher will be asked to:

register with the ACC School of Faith
-
register with Kingsley College
ACC Lay Preachers require a minimum of 6 subjects of the 10742NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology* at Kingsley College.
They need to complete the following units:
-
Introduction to the Old Testament
-
Introduction to the New Testament
-
Basic Christian Beliefs
-
Introduction to Preaching
-
Worship
-
Wesleyan Leadership and the Basis of Union **
Those finishing the above units may like to continue on to complete
the 10742NAT Certificate IV in Christian Ministry and Theology*
and then the Diploma and Advanced Diploma.*
Candidates may be eligible to receive credit for existing qualifications.

Candidates for the Assembly of Confessing Congregations Lay Preachers Course will
-
be an active member of a local worshipping community
-
receive ongoing supervision from an ACC mentor
-
become familiar with the Basis of Union and prepare to lead study of the Basis in terms of biblical sources and practical application at the local level
ACC Lay Preachers in active ministry will be asked to:
-
accept the spiritual oversight and discipline of a presbytery (or network) approved by the ACC
-
attend sessions on the Uniting Church Code of Ethics for Lay Preachers and Safe Church Practices (or equivalent as may be negotiated with the ACC)
-
engage in continuing education

Job Description of an ACC mentor
Mentors of candidates for the ministry of ACC Lay Preacher will be asked to:
-
register and liaise with the ACC School of Faith
-
be an active member of a local worshipping community
-
accept the spiritual oversight and discipline of a presbytery (or network) approved by the ACC
-
assist the candidate to become familiar with, and prepare to lead study of, the Basis of Union
-
act as a sounding board in the training and formation process
-
advise and, where appropriate, accompany the candidate in areas of contact with the wider Uniting Church
