Assembly of Confessing Congregations Prayer Network
Month of Prayer and Fasting in September 2018, to pray for Christ's guidance and wisdom to know how we are to stand at this time and for the boldness and courage to do it. Ephesians 6:10-20
SEPTEMBER STAND: Month of Prayer and Fasting
Ephesians 6:13 (NIV) Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Let us hold firmly the hope that our Living Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, will come, assess and deal with us, that we might be able to live and endure through the changes of History, through the news of His completed work. (from Basis of Union Par 4)
September Stand: Month of Prayer and Fasting September 2018
During the month of September the Assembly of Confessing Congregations (ACC) Prayer Network is declaring a month of prayer and fasting. In June we began the Sacred Season of Prayer and Fasting that took us up to the end of UCA Assembly. After the Assembly made their decision to allow same-gender marriage, the various networks that were standing apart from this decision decided to have 40 days of prayer and fasting to wait on the Lord and listen. That will be finishing tomorrow (31st August). However as you are well aware there is still much need of prayer at this crucial time of decision-making and implementation of what we should do as a Confessing Movement to stand. So the ACC Prayer Network is taking up the baton again and we urge all ACC members, congregations and clusters to be earnest in prayer during the month of September. Those supporting us ecumenically are also invited, plus the other networks who we are standing with. Our theme for this month of praying and fasting is to “Stand”.
Our ACC conference and AGM will be occurring from the 17th – 19th September in Sydney. At this conference we will need to face together some very important matters of how we as a confessing movement will respond together to the Assembly marriage decision. The “September Stand: Month of Prayer and Fasting”, will occur in the lead up to, during and following the ACC meeting.
What will we be praying and fasting for?
Firstly we will be fasting and praying as a confessing movement for wisdom and discernment as to what the Lord Jesus Christ, our living Head is wanting us to do at this time.
Secondly we will be praying for unity with all the groups that are standing and that ACC will find her role and place in the overall plan. Some will be attending meetings from the different networks at some time in September following the ACC Conference.
Thirdly we will be praying for the wisdom, courage and strength to put into practise what is the Lord has shown us to do
Fourthly we will be pastorally praying for all ACC members, congregations and clusters in this difficult time of transition.
How will we be praying and fasting?
Different ACC Congregations and clusters will be having prayer meetings during the month. There will also be prayer zoom times, every Wednesday 8 am and Sunday communion 3 pm. Some states will also be having prayer zoom times. People can join the prayer zoom times by computer, phone or device.

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide: 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them —to the Israelites. 3 I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. 4 Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates —all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. 5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
